Cultural Awareness Training 2026
Course
Cultural Awareness correctly applied creates Cultural Competence. This is an essential skill in our global society as we work, live, study and form relationships with people from other countries, races, religions and backgrounds. Jesus taught that you should love your neighbor as yourself. This course reviews how to do that in our global organization. An essential course for all students, interns and staff to raise awareness and improve communication and interaction in our global Cumorah family.
Outcomes of the Course
Those who take the course will:
o Gain personal awareness of their own cultural norms, preconceptions and the importance of knowing themselves.
o Understand how important cultural competency is in increasing love, respect and positivity in their study or workplace.
o Be able to communicate and act in ways that decrease misunderstandings, conflict, racism and perceptions of racism, sexism, classism, national exceptionalism
o Increase their personal creativity and innovation through applying new perspectives and team dynamics
The course covers the following areas:
- Why we Need Cultural Awareness
- What is Cultural Awareness and How we Acquire it.
- How to Recognize Cultural Challenges and Overcome Them.
- Essential Concepts and Advice in Becoming Cultural Competent.
- Processes on Campus for Dealing with Racism, Nationalism or Other Destructive Behaviors
The course should take between 40 - 90 minutes to complete depending on your English level.
There is about 20 minutes of video, 20 minutes of reading, plus quizzes and 1 written assignment in the course.
All students, staff and interns need to take this course BEFORE coming to campus and may be asked to develop the topics further whilst on campus.
